January, 1989 Prof Mike Gage shows Nelson Max's films on "Homotopies in the plane" and "Turning the sphere inside out" for math club
April, 1989 Prof Mike Gage organizes demonstrations of fractals and Mandelbrot sets for math club

1998 - April Leeza Pachepsky receives Alice De Simone Student Life award. (given to students who have demonstrated significant levels of responsibility, dedication, and enthusiasm for co-curricular life at the U of R). Leeza's presidency of SUMS is mentioned in the citation.
1998 Scott Jennings (Econ/Math) wins Alice De Simone Student Life as a Sophmore. (Scott became SA president some years later.)
